Daddy only Days

I adopted this from Jack Ramsay. Spending time exclusively with one of my kids turned out to be very rewarding, joyful and fun. For both actually – for Amy and for myself.

Amy is four years now and I just came back from a two day trip with her to a near by city Oberhausen. And I am still totally happy and flashed by the experience.

The setup was quite simple. It is an hour drive. There is an Aquarium, a Legoland and a Bed&Breakfast. This is plenty of activity for a four year old, spread across the first afternoon and the next morning. After lunch of the second day we just chilled in a near by park with a playground before we drove home. She was actually already finished and exhausted by then. In-between we just played some Uno and a couple of other games I brought with me.

However the most appreciated fact is the exclusive time I spent with her. Normally you are distracted by calls, mails or the rest of the family. Being away and being only the two of us allowed me to focus on just her. This is just a blast.

It is a challenge for both. She needs to keep up with adult attention all the time, which is quite a challenge for her and much harder than playing with peers. And I needed to adopt a bit to child demands.

Making the effort and going on this adventure tour was one of best experiences recently. I encourage everybody else to do it. It will be very rewarding.
